Christmas is over but the New Year is upon us, and we're crossing everything hoping 2025 is a much better one! Here's what we're playing on this final weekend of 2024.
I'm currently wrapping up my backlog of games before I decide on my top 10 games of the year, specifically finishing the fascinating Ultros and exploring as Indy in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle which is a treat so far.
The gaming continues, but as was to be expected, I have become distracted. PlayStation progress continues, but the PC grand strategy Total War series is calling, my great and enduring love. Total War: Warhammer III has received a bunch of high-quality updates and DLC (developer Creative Assembly crawling back to its core fanbase after FPS Hyenas didn't pan out), and I really want to fire up a new Total War: Three Kingdoms campaign; a miserly reviewer, it's the first of just two 10s I've ever bestowed, and I could (and likely will) play it forever.
I'm trying not to start anything big since I have a very busy start to 2025 with review games, so I've returned to Silent Hill 2 to finish off the Platinum Trophy. If I have enough spare time, I'll also grind out the character levels in LEGO Horizon Adventures for the Platinum Trophy in that too.
Alongside my new playthrough of Baldur's Gate 3, I've been enjoying Warhammer 40k: Darktide massively. At first, it wasn't quite scratching that same itch as Vermintide 2 — which I love to bits — but something clicked after about 10 hours or so. Now I'm grinding through missions at record pace and the action never stops. Highly recommended if you've got a friend or two to play with!
I'm catching up with all my gachas ahead of the New Year, so it'll be Zenless Zone Zero, Honkai: Star Rail, and Infinity Nikki for me most of the weekend.
There's no better way to celebrate the end of the year by battering fascists in Indiana Jones, and I'll be playing some Dragon's Dogma 2 to end the year since its my GOTY.
