Much of the third act of revolves around the collection of allies in the fight against the Absolute, andthe Harpers stand out early as a potential group to team up with. Players can already have Jaheira, the high Harper of Baldur's Gate, on their team by the start of the act, and more like Harper Geraldus can be found throughout Rivington and the lower city.
But there is one Harper that nobody can recruit, and in fact, many players will end up killing them without ever knowing. This particular Harper is named Archer Velicia and is undercover in Rivington when the party meets her. Only through a certain spell can this double agent's true allegiances ever be learned, but by then, any alliance with her will be more than forfeit.
Archer Velicia is undercover in the Guild, an organized crime syndicate that connects the different thieves, thugs, and murderers in Baldur's Gate. During BG3's , the Guild is in conflict with a certain Stone Lord in , a new crime boss in town serving the Absolute. Velicia is part of a group of Guild members confronting the Stone Lord's goons on Rivington's coast, near a boat full of fresh parasites from Moonrise Towers.
Deciding whether to fight alongside the Zhentarim against the guild or vice versa is one of the more difficult decisions in Baldur’s Gate 3.
When players happen upon this confrontation, they will be allowed to join up with the Guild or fight both groups, taking on foes like Blunt Skuncher and Old Flake-Eyes. By the end of this confrontation, either the Guild will be victorious and claim the Stone Lord's shipment, or everyone on the beach except the player's party will be dead or unconscious.
If left alive, Archer Velicia will act like any other Guild member, spouting generic dialogue as she unloads the ship. There will never be any indication of her Harper nature, an odd omission in a game that usually hides lore in every detail. The only way players can ever learn this character is a Harper is if she dies and they use Speak
