While we’re still some time away from the April 24 release date for turn-based RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, a movie based on the game is already reportedly in production. The movie is slated to be a live action adaptation of the game.
According to Variety, the movie adaptation of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is being produced by developer Sandfall Interactive and Story Kitchen.
“We’re thrilled to collaborate with Sandfall Interactive to bring the rich, immersive world of ‘Expedition 33’ to the big screen,” said Story Kitchen founders Dmitri M. Johnson and Mike Goldberg. “The game’s compelling narrative and complex characters provide a solid foundation for a cinematic experience that will resonate with both gamers and moviegoers alike.”
Story Kitchen and Sandfall Interactive are both currently working on directorial and casting decisions for the movie adaptation. Producing duties are being handled by Elena Sandoval, Timothy Stevenson, Johnson and Goldberg on Story Kicthen’s side of things.
“Partnering with Story Kitchen allows us to expand the universe of ‘Clair Obscur’ beyond the gaming realm,” said Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 creative director Guillaume Broche. “Their expertise in storytelling and passion for our vision make them the perfect team to translate our game into a captivating film.”
Story Kitchen has quite a few live action adaptations of video games under its belt, with its website listing the Sonic the Hedgehog series and Tomb Raider as among the movies it has worked on. The company’s website also lists a number of other games, including Dredge, Disco Elysium andIt Takes Two.
Sandfall Interactive had recently revealed the required hardware for running Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 on PC. The requirements are relatively modest, needing hardware quite a few generations old to run on the title’s minimum settings. Cranking these settings higher requires more modern hardware.
