As we come to the end of another cold and grey week, I’m heading into London to see what’s what at WASD. Before getting to that, though, I’ve had a few different games on the go this past week, with the remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door in my Switch and the puzzle-sniper action of Children of the Sun on my PC. I did also squeeze in one solitary mission in Helldivers 2 – every little bit helps when spreading Managed Democracy!
Jim has been feeling a bit burnt out after playing Sea of Stars too much, so wanted something “lighter and shorter”. Skyrim was the obvious answer, quite legitimately, as playing on Steam Deck has let him play in short bursts. Alongside that he’s been playing Disney Speedstorm and Stalker: Call of Pripyat.
It was Gamoc’s duty this week to play Stellar Blade, and he rather enjoyed it, despite running into a few issues – head to our Stellar Blade review to read all about it.
Aran played a bit more of Neon White, which he’s really been enjoying, but as he’s now in the final stretch before getting married next month, he’s not had much time to game.
And Ade pushed himself to get through a bunch of games that he found to be rather lacklustre, including Harold Halibut (actually last week), Tales of Kenzera: ZAU, and TMNT Arcade: Wrath of the Mutants. So he returned to some known quantities by playing through the final bits of Hi-Fi Rush, and is now eyeing up another former Xbox exclusive: Pentiment.
Rise of the Ronin has started to outstay its welcome for Nick P this week, but he’s sticking with it. He also played and rather enjoyed TopSpin 2K25 – why did it take well over a decade for 2K to revive this series?
And we’ll round things out this week with Jason, who wrapped up a review of the soulslike under the sea, Another Crab’s Treasure. It might be a bit of a pastiche of the genre, but he had a grand old time playing it.
Now then, what have you been playing this week?
