Apple TV+ has shared the release date and first-look image for its upcoming sports comedy series, starring Oscar nominee Owen Wilson as a former professional golfer. This marks Wilson’s latest major TV project, after starring as Mobius for two seasons of Marvel Studios‘ Loki series.
“The series follows Pryce Cahill an over-the-hill, ex-pro golfer whose career was derailed prematurely 20 years ago. After the collapse of his marriage and getting fired from his job at an Indiana sporting goods store, Pryce hedges his bets, and future, entirely on a troubled 17-year-old golf phenom named Santi. Stick is a heartfelt, feel-good comedy about a found family and their relationships set within the world of golf as it has never been shown before,” reads the official synopsis.
Stick is scheduled to make its debut on June 4, 2025, exclusively on Apple TV+. Besides Wilson, the comedy also stars Peter Dager, Marc Maron, Mariana Treviño, Lilli Kay, Judy Greer and Timothy Olyphant. It will also feature guest appearances from golf superstars such as Collin Morikawa, Keegan Bradley, Max Homa, Wyndam Clark, and more.
The series is written and created by showrunnerJason Keller, who’s also executive producing alongside Wilson, Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens, Rodney Ferrell, Guymon Casady, Lee Eisenberg, Natalie Sandy, Chris Moynihan and Bill Callahan. Additional cameos include broadcasters Jim Nantz and Trevor Immelman, Good Good’s Matt Scharff, Brad Dalke and Garrett Clark, as well as golf enthusiast Dan Rapaport. It is directed by Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris (Little Miss Sunshine, Battle of the Sexes).
