The Gorge Rating Revealed for Scott Derrickson Movie, Contains ‘Intense Sequences of Violence’
, an upcoming romantic action movie from Sinister and The Black Phone director Scott Derrickson, has received a PG-13 MPA rating for its “intense” content.
Per BloodyDisgusting’s report, The Gorge is rated PG-13 for “intense sequences of violence and action, brief strong language, some suggestive material and thematic elements.” Other details about the movie, including what the plot will entail, remain under wraps. However, a previous report from Deadline revealed that Derrickson’s next project is a “high-action, genre-bending love story.”
Following the record-breaking theatrical release of Avatar: The Way of Water, it was revealed last year that Oscar-nominated actress Sigourney Weaver has signed on to star opposite Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy for the upcoming project from Skydance and Apple Original Films.
In addition to directing, Derrickson — also known for features like The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Deliver Us from Evil, Doctor Strange, and more — also produced The Gorge alongside David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, C. Robert Cargill, Sherryl Clark, Adam Kolbrenner, and Greg Goodman. Derrickson directed the movie based on a screenplay written by The Tomorrow War scribe Zach Dean, who is also one of the producers. Teller executive produced The Gorge.
Weaver, who’s no stranger to starring in action films, gained worldwide recognition for her role as Ellen Ripley in the Alien franchise. She has also cemented her name in the industry by starring in several features like The Ice Storm, Ghostbusters, The Year of Living Dangerously, Galaxy Quest, Avatar, and more.
Moreover, Taylor-Joy — who can recently be seen as the younger version of Imperator Furiosa in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga — has made a name for herself with career-defining roles in The Witch, Split, Thoroughbreds, Peaky Blinders, The Queen’s Gambit, Emma, Last Night in Soho, The Northman, and The Menu.
