Controversial 'Alliance and Horde' Line Removed from War Within Beta
A controversial line about the Alliance and Horde has been removed from a quest in the War Within beta. Alleria no longer says «we can no longer be Horde or Alliance» in the updated version.
Quest Text Changed
As we previously reported, a quest during the War Within's max level campaign included Alleria making a controversial statement about World of Warcraft's factions.
As we said at the time, this was a very early version of what will become the final text, and it could still easily be changed. At the same time, there have been growing concerns about faction identity now that a lasting peace between the factions has been established. Thankfully, Alleria's misjudged statement has been rewritten. The new quest text reads,
With the new text, Alleria is still emphasizing unity between the Alliance and Horde — but no longer suggests that the factions themselves need to be dissolved for the sake of this unity. It's an encouraging change, one that will hopefully be followed with some exploration into faction identity that doesn't rely on a faction war.
