Sony seems to have plans to expand its video game offerings on to mobile platforms. As caught by TweakTown, the company has posted a new job listing for a Mobile Platform Architect.
Those applying for the job would have a number of responsibilities relating to video game releases on mobiles, including designing the system architecture and backend service for a mobile games platform.
“PlayStation Studios Mobile is seeking an experienced software engineer to design PlayStation’s platform for developing, publishing, and operating free-to-play mobile games,” the listing reads. “An individual in this role will spearhead the design and implementation of this platform; work in partnership with internal teams to connect mobile games to PlayStation services; and ensure that all mobile games meet PlayStation’s quality standards.”
It is currently unknown what game releases Sony has planned for release on mobiles, but it will be doing so under its PlayStation brand. The job listing also lists having to track technical innovations, changes, and trends affecting mobile game development as one of its responsibilities.
The listing indicates that those applying will have a hand in developing a new platform through which free-to-play mobile games can be developed, published, and operated. PlayStation services getting connected to mobile games also seems to be a priority for the company, which would indicate some sort of cross-progression for PSN accounts, with potential features like Trophies.
