Square Enix has confirmed that Visions of Mana will be released on August 29th, and pre-orders are now live across PC and consoles. Visions of Mana was announced in December, making it the first mainline Mana entry in 15 years, and today Square Enix has released more details alongside the game’s release date.
When it comes to the Vision of Mana characters we already know of Val and Hinna. Val is Hinna’s lifelong friend and soul guard, accompanying her on the journey to the Tree of Mana. Additional characters include Careena and her sacred beast companion Ramcoh, Morley of Etaern, the Moonlit Parish, Palamena who is the young Queen of Illystana, Capital of the Deep, and carer of her brother Iain, and Julien who is the custodian of Verdeus Borough. All of these characters, bar Hinna, are playable in the game.
Previously, we were introduced to Pikuls, giant wolf like steeds you can ride to traverse the land at speed. Pikuls are not the only creatures capable of carrying the party though. Vuscavs are turtle like creatures that allow the party to cross the seas, and the legendary Flammie can take to the skies and soar through the air. All three creatures will help you explore and find the secrets of the open world, which is also fraught with dangers.
Combat is a key aspect of Visions of Mana, and it is real time combat. The Ring Menu makes its return to the series, with moves equipped in this menu the only ones that can be used in combat. That will mean switching out moves for others to get the best advantage against the various foes that pose a danger to Hinna, Val, and the rest of the group. Battle parties will consist of three characters, each one with their own skills and abilities that can provide different supports. Characters are not limited and their class can be changed through the use of Elemental Vessels.
