Stellar Blade, the latest PS5 exclusive title, may soon get a major update that brings a new game mode into the fray. Apparently, developer Shift Up is already working on adding a challenge mode for Stellar Blade.
After hitting the shelves worldwide on April 26, Stellar Blade has received mostly positive reception from players, emerging as yet another high-quality PlayStation exclusive title. Now that the game is out, Shift Up is actively working on the post-launch content strategy for the game, having already added a New Game+ mode in Stellar Blade at launch. To that end, the developer could further deliver a challenge mode to refresh the game for fans in the near future.
In an interview with Korean publication Nate, Shift Up CEO and Stellar Blade director Kim Hyung-tae revealed that the developer is currently building a «Boss Challenge» mode for the sci-fi action game. Further, the report highlighted that no other plans for future content, such as DLCs, currently exist besides this particular mode. Taking into account similarly named modes in other games, there are chances the forthcoming boss-centric mode could involve the player facing a series of consecutive boss fights.
During the interview, Hyung-tae also shared his opinion on the positive critical feedback for Stellar Blade, saying «I am very satisfied with the score.» He emphasized how the developer didn't overlook the importance of narrative while making the action-heavy game. Further, he talked about the role of music in Stellar Blade and games in general, remarking that it has the ability to «touch people’s hearts.» Speaking of Shift Up's game-making approach, the director underlined that it is always imperative to «think about the fun» in the game.
