Helldivers 2 boss Johan Pilestedt has implied that all the game's balancing issues, which have been a key source of frustration for a while, are due to the developers not playing their own game enough.
Earlier today, Helldivers 2 boss Johan Pilestedt gave pretty much every fan a small panic attack by announcing that he would be stepping back from his role as CEO of developer Arrowhead Game Studios. That announcement was quickly followed up by the reveal of his new role within the studio, as he explained that he'd now be able to spend more time with the Helldivers 2 team and community as a Chief Creative Officer.
This new role will give Pilestedt less red tape to worry about and allow him to focus more on Helldivers 2 itself, something which he seems to be rather excited about. It's no secret that the game has a few big issues that need addressing, whether that be the wonky rewards system, the disappointment over increasingly lackluster Warbonds, or the ever-present balancing problems players are becoming frustrated with. Fortunately, Pilestedt reckons he knows how to fix that last issue.
Helldivers 2 fans have naturally been very curious as to how these changes in leadership will affect development, as one person asked what his approach to receiving and implementing player feedback would be regarding balancing issues. According to Pilestedt, one change he's going to make to try and fix this issue is getting more developers at Arrowhead to play the game themselves.
Pilestedt states that it's "hard to make the right decisions if the eyes aren't on the road" and wants more devs to start playing the game more to get a good grasp of any lingering issues the community has. He also explained that he wants Arrowhead to start looking more closely at the sentiment surrounding feedback to try and understand why it's being given, rather than act directly based off of singular complaints.
