Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth continued Square Enix's retelling of one of its most popular stories earlier this year, and the expected attempts to capitalize on its popularity continue. Most of those attempts have come in the form of various action figures, but a Final Fantasy 7-themed product that went up for pre-order this week is quite a bit different. Ice trays, one of which lets you craft your own frozen Buster Swords.
The silicone ice tray has three Buster Sword slots for you to fill with water, or whatever liquid you like should you want to mix things up, and is available to pre-order through the Big Bad Toy Store via the link in the box below. If you've got the liquid know-how, you could even try to make Buster Sword ice with different colored materia embedded in it. I don't know the science or engineering that would need to go into that, but it would be cool to see if any of you buying the trays manage to figure it out.
It's going to be a while before we can have little Buster Swords sticking out of our drinks. Even though pre-orders for the trays are already open, they won't be released until November 2024. That means no cosplaying as Cloud and the gang in their Costa Del Sol outfits and stirring recreations of drinks you might be served on the Shinra-8 with ice Buster Swords. It does mean they will be here in time for the holidays though if you're already on the lookout for an inventive Christmas gift.
Final Fantasy 7's Buster Sword ice tray lets you make ice cubes that aren't cube-shaped at all. They're Buster Sword-shaped, and each try is capable of making three of them at a time.
If Buster Sword ice isn't enough or you'd prefer something different, Big Bad Toy Store also has a silicone tray that will get you Cactuar-shaped ice. While not nearly as cool as the Buster Swords, the Cactuar tray can make twice as many ice cubes at one time and costs $6 less. The wait for it to be released is just as long unfortunately which again means no Final Fantasy ice
