Blizzard has unveiled that one of the five new boss encounters coming with Season 2, Duriel, King of Maggots, will drop Uber Unique items. The development team didn't share any specifics regarding the actual drop rate of Uber Uniques from Uber Duriel — however, Diablo 4 Game Director Joe Shely stated on Twitter that players who «get the fight on farm are going to see them.»
Season 2 Developer Livestream Summary First Look At Season 2 Boss Encounters
It is no secret that finding an Uber Unique item like or can be compared to winning a lottery jackpot.
In fact, Blizzard had to officially confirm the World First Shako Drop back in June because everyone thought the involved screenshot was fake.
Since then, only a handful of players worldwide have found an Uber Unique item — and that is why the fantastically low drop rate has been a hot community topic since Diablo 4's launch.
Why invest design ideas and resources into items that virtually nobody will be using?
By the looks of it, all this will tremendously change with Season 2. At first, Joe Shely's statement is nothing but music to the ears of all Diablo fans who just love the grind-heavy «chase» after aspirational endgame items — but it also leaves some questions open: Will Duriel's loot table include all Uber Uniques currently in the game? Will different Uber Uniques have different drop rates? And how hard will it be to unlock the Uber Duriel fight in the first place?
What do you think of this change? Does it defeat the initial purpose of those super-rare Uber Uniques? Or should every player run around with a Shako on their head at the end of the season? Let us know in the comments!
