A few years ago, Thunder Lotus had a calming, profound, story-rich hit on its hands with the sailing game Spiritfarer. Before that, though, they received notable attention for hand-drawn action games such as Jotun and Sundered, and at today’s Xbox Games Showcase, it was revealed that they’ll be returning to those roots with their next game, 33 Immortals, whose intense announcement trailer you can check out below.
The top-down roguelike action game sees you playing as a damned soul rebelling against God’s final judgement, but thankfully, you won’t be going it alone. Now, some game have two-player co-op, or two-player co-op, but Thunder Lotus goes well beyond that with…well, the title should be a giveaway. Yes, it’s 33-player co-op, with instant “pick up and raid” matchmaking. This means a ton more action, and a ton more of Thunder Lotus’ amazing art, so we’re not complaining. 33 Immortals comes out in 2024 for XSX, PC, and Game Pass, and should definitely make for quite the unique mulitplayer experience, if nothing else.
