The Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon anime spin-off first announced in 2021 finally has a release date. Titled Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, the anime combines '90s-style animation with the retrofuture cyberpunk aesthetic that served as Blood Dragon's signature.
Based on the above trailer, the anime will feature Power Ranger lookalikes, syringe-throwing femme fatales, and lots of big guns. Producer Adi Shankar describes the series as a violent dystopian tale in the tradition of Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, albeit with more dark humor. He also called it a spoof and a satire, indicating its comedic tone.
Back when the project was first announced, Shankar said that the show would be «Captain N, but good.» He also remarked that the show is set in 1992, that it is modeled after Saturday morning cartoons like G.I. Joe, and that it got a six-episode order. It's unclear if the show is confirmed to have six episodes as of this writing.
This trailer was revealed as part of Ubisoft Forward, a showcase of the publisher's biggest games.
