Codemasters and EA will be releasing F1 23 later this week, and today a video was released having drivers try to guess their in-game ratings. This also means the official ratings have been released for the game, with defending F1 World Champion Max Verstappen leading the way with a 94 overall followed by Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso with a 92. These are a key element of My Team, which gives the players the chance to create their own Formula One team with their favorite real-world teams or as the 11th team on the grid.
“ It is very compelling to see the passion, camaraderie and banter our dynamic Driver Ratings generate among Formula 1 drivers,” said John Merchant, F1 ® Brand Director at Codemasters. “This year, we have worked closely with our panel of experts to provide a better balance between well-seasoned drivers and those in the early to mid stages of their career, especially in terms of their experience rating. As ever we will be updating the driver stats throughout the F1 season to ensure that the game stays fully calibrated with the sport all the way through the season.”
This ‘Guess the Rating’ challenge happened during both race weekends in Monaco and Barcelona. EA SPORTS complied and analyzed the drivers’ real-life results and performances from the 2023 Formula One season through the Miami Grand Prix. Offering assistance were F1 experts Anthony Davidson and Alex Jacques, who went beyond the data. The studio updated the algorithm to lean less on the legacy and more on the driver’s current form.
