Grasshopper Manufacture has carried out its own mini Direct this morning, and to say it was a bit bizarre would be accurate. The direct started with a quick look at the history of Grasshopper’s games, including cancelled titles, before properly opening up with the re-announcement of Shadows of the Damned Remastered, which announced earlier this week. There was no release date but it is coming to current platforms.
Then there was a teaser for a game called Pistol Yakuza, playing as a fake YouTube ad in the middle of the video. Basically, no information was given about it and we’re not even sure if the gameplay that was shown was actual gameplay. All we know is that the character has no longer has a wife or cat, and seemed to be riffing on the John Wick franchise a little. The second game announcement, we think, was like another advert, and it is called Electric Tiger Thunder 14. The teaser shows a smiling man in a helmet looking around before getting kicked in the face. Was that an actual game announcement? Who knows? At the end of the Direct the hosts are speaking with Suda51 and on the screen in the background is Grasshopper Manufacture’s actual next game. No information is given about it at all, but it looks like a first person title set in an open world.
So, from that Direct two games are definitely confirmed, those being Shadows of the Damned Remastered, and whatever game was on the screen at the end. Yakuza Pistol and Electric Tiger Thunder 14 are likely to be fake teasers rather than real projects. There was no update on Lollipop Chainsaw, which Grasshopper Manufacture originally developed. The Lollipop Chainsaw Remake is still set to be released in 2023, with Dragami Games working on that.
