Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora kicked off the Ubisoft Forward presentation on June 12, and Ubisoft Massive's first-person action-adventure game promises to transport you Pandora on December 7 to fight as a Na'vi just like you've seen in the two films.
The trailer--which was a mix of cinematic footage and in-engine gameplay captured from a PlayStation 5--showed off the game's massive world, with wild creatures, sprawling horizons, and a mixture of first- and third-person gameplay both on the ground and in the air. The story follows an original story in the Avatar universe, with a Na'vi who had been placed into cryosleep 15 years prior to the events of the game at its center.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will take place on a section of Pandora called the Western Frontier, which has not been seen in either Avatar movies released thus far. It will feature a cast of new characters and a «reactive» world, and it's coming exclusively to current-gen consoles and PC. Like Ubisoft Massive's Star Wars project, it makes use of the Snowdrop engine.
An extended gameplay trailer was also shown at the event, which highlighted the world of Pandora and its different biomes, the different types flora and fauna that populate it, and different ways to get around the massive world. Multiple combat styles will be available to players, including stealth- and trap-based combat, along with a headfirst approach with multiple firearms. Based on what was shown, the game elicits a Far Cry-like style of gameplay and exploration.
Avatar: Frontiers Of Pandora will launch December 7 on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
