continues to grow, with Deadline reporting that Margaret Qualley, Josh Brolin, and Guy Pearce are all in final talks to join the cast of Ridley Scott’s next movie.
The trio of actors are currently in final talks to join the cast of the upcoming movie, which also features Jacob Elordi, who recently replaced Paul Mescal in the film after Mescal was forced to exit the project due to other obligations. The Dog Stars is based on a 2012 novel by Peter Heller, and the script is being written by Mark L. Smith (The Revenant, Twisters). Smith also will produce the movie alongside Cliff Roberts and Scott Free.
The film is set in a near future where “society has changed profoundly,” according to a logline for the film. Elordi will play the role of Hig, a pilot living on an abandoned airbase. After a chance meeting with an ex-marine named Bangley (played by Brolin), “are forced to work together to navigate this dangerous and uncompromising new world.”
Qualley is set to play the role of Cima, a young doctor and daughter to a “world-weary rancher,” who will be played by Guy Pearce. The pair will meet Hig along his journey through the world.
Qualley is coming off of her critically acclaimed role in the Oscar-nominated horror film The Substance. Brolin is also coming off of a successful 2024, having starred in Dune: Part Two, as well as the crime comedy film Brothers.
He’ll next appear in the next entry in the Knives Out franchise, as well as the 2025 remake of The Running Man. Guy Pearce’s latest role was also critically acclaimed, as he starred alongside Adrien Brody in The Brutalist.
