Following a leak, PlayStation has confirmed the next batch of free games for PlayStation Plus subscribers. PS Plus members across all three tiers will be able to claim this trio of games in May 2023: Grid Legends, Chivalry 2, and Descenders. All three games will be free for PS Plus subscribers starting May 2.
Racing fans will definitely want to check out Grid Legends. Released just last year, Codemasters' latest Grid game (the fifth in the franchise) is arguably the best one yet. Grid Legends has a cinematic story mode, cross-platform multiplayer for up to 22 players, and a creation suite that lets you make your own tracks. It's a good one to check out regardless of if you're a diehard racing fan or casual player, as it's a hybrid arcade-simulation racer with customizable settings. Both the PS5 and PS4 versions of Grid Legends will be up for grabs.
For extreme sports enthusiasts, Descenders is worth a look in May. The downhill cycling game that has a simple hook: bike fast, very fast. This mountain-biking game has procedurally generated tracks to keep things fresh, and your bike itself also has special permutations that utilize roguelike systems. Descenders is fun whether you're playing solo or with friends online. It's also one of those sports games that is pretty easy to get into, but you have to put the time in to really master its unique style.
Meanwhile, Chivalry 2 is a totally different kind of multiplayer game. You play as a medieval warrior across huge battlefields with 64 players. Played from a first-person, Chivalry 2 is a fast-paced and bloody game that features more than 30 different weapons, a diverse class and sub-class system, and mounts. Yes, you can trample your opponents on horseback.
