The cast for the Mortal Kombat movie sequel continues to come into focus. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Adeline Rudolph (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) will star in the film as Kitana.
Rudolph joins a cast that includes Karl Urban (The Boys, The Lord of the Rings) as Johnny Cage and Tati Grabrielle as Jade. Rudolph and Gabrielle starred together on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. And this isn't the first video game project for either of them, as Gabrielle starred in Sony's Uncharted movie and Rudolph played Billie Wesker on Netflix's Resident Evil series.
Australian filmmaker Simon McQuoid is coming back to direct Mortal Kombat 2, which is being written by Jeremy Slater (Moon Knight, Umbrella Academy).
2021's Mortal Kombat was released in the middle of the pandemic and debuted both in theaters and on HBO Max (which is now simply called Max). It scored solid reviews and was a major success on streaming, so it was no surprise when the sequel was greenlit.
As for the Mortal Kombat game series, Mortal Kombat 1 releases this September on console and PC. For more, check out GameSpot's Mortal Kombat 1 preorder guide.
