Sony has managed to keep information regarding today’s PlayStation Showcase surprisingly locked down, but one thing that did slip out early (and has been rumored in one form or another for years) was a possible remake of the fan-favorite Metal Gear Solid 3. Why Konami has opted to change the title isn't entirely clear at this juncture.
The teaser trailer or Metal Gear Solid Delta focused on multiple animals (ants, a frog, a bird, and a crocodile) eating each other in a jungle setting, only confirming Snake and the game's title at the very end. While strictly cinematic, it certainly looks like a lot of cash is being pumped into this remake. Here's hoping the actual gameplay is equally impressive. We don't have a lot of specific detail about Metal Gear Solid Delta at the moment, although IGN confirms that the game's original voice cast, including David Hayter will return. Beyond that, Konami is promising the remake will offer "unprecedented new graphics," indicating this won't be a mere remaster or conservative visual update.
"Discover the origin story of iconic military operative Snake and begin to unravel the plot of the legendary Metal Gear series. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater brings unprecedented new graphics, immersive stealth action gameplay and sounds to its riveting story as players once again return to the world of Metal Gear."
Sony and Konami have also confirmed the original Metal Gear Solid trilogy will also be coming to PS5 sometime this autumn.
