May is almost upon us, which means PS Plus Essential tier subscribers will have a new short-list of free games to try out, and as usual, the games have leaked ahead of time. These leaks come courtesy of Billbil-kun writing on Dealabs, who has a pretty much perfect record when it comes to revealing PS Plus titles. In May, subscribers can look forward to the bloody multiplayer knight battler Chivalry 2, solid multi-vehicle-type racing game Grid Legends, and the downhill dirt bike racer Descenders.
Here's a bit more detail on the upcoming PS Plus Essential titles…
Chivalry 2 (PS4, PS5)
From Wccftech’s review – “Chivalry 2 is a fantastic medieval multiplayer brawler created with care by the studio that first heralded the genre. Although there are a few missteps and issues here and there, you'll have an absolute blast playing whether you're a battle-hardened knight or a noob knave.”
Grid Legends (PS4, PS5)
From Wccftech’s review – “Grid Legends is an exciting and inviting arcade racing romp, but it doesn’t outpace the competition in any particular way. The game’s new story mode is more cringey than captivating and a middling amount of content may eventually make you feel like you’re circling the same old track. Grid Legends is certainly worth considering if you’re looking for some approachable asphalt action, but you may want to wait until the Blue Book price comes down a bit.”
Descenders (PS4, PS5)
“Descenders is extreme downhill freeriding for the modern era, with procedurally generated worlds, and where mistakes have some real consequences. Will you lead your team to glory and become the next legendary Descender?”
Sony now offers three tiers of PS Plus – Essential for $10 a month, Extra for $15 a month, and Premium for $18
