In their Post-Launch Experiences Developer Blog, Blizzard has given us some information regarding a key part of the Battle Pass — the Season Blessings system. With all the talk about the Diablo 4 Battle Pass and the different tiers it possesses, this system is an interesting addition to the Seasonal future of Diablo 4, so let's dive in! Post-Launch Experiences Blizzard Blog Season Blessings are boosts earned through the Free tier of the Battle Pass. Players earn Smoldering Ashes as they kill monsters and level up, which can then be spent on bonuses to things such as experience, elixir duration, and salvage yields. Blizzard has been vocal that the Battle Pass will have no player power locked behind microtransactions, and the Season Blessings seem to be their solution: while keeping all earnable Ashes on the Free tier, every player will have the same access to the Season Blessing system regardless of their price point. To further hammer home the lack of pay-to-win in this system, Blizzard states this in regards to the worry that Tier Skips could be used to essentially speed through the collection of Ashes:
Since Season Blessings affect gameplay, you must meet certain Character Level requirements to claim the Smoldering Ashes needed to apply Blessings. This ensures they are earned by achieving gameplay requirements and there is no advantage gained from purchasing Tier Skips. While it remains to be clarified whether Smoldering Ashes can be refunded once spent, the system seems very strict on the «no pay-to-win» aspect. We can't wait to see how this system plays out when the first Diablo 4 season launches sometime in July! Diablo 4 Season 1 Launch Plans
