Hogwarts Legacy has generated well over $1.3 billion in revenue, as revealed by Warner Bros. Discovery's CEO, David Zaslav.
That's what the CEO told investors during SVB MoffettNathanson's Inaugural Technology, Media and Telecom conference call some days ago (via Seeking Alpha).
"And we also have this philosophy at the company of no content before its time", Zaslav said when talking about the changes that are being made at the company. "The Hogwarts game, that was set to launch 10 months before, but it wasn't ready. Let's get it right. Spend more money, get it right.
The executive continued by mentioning Hogwarts Legacy and added that the title is the fastest-growing game of 2023.
"We launched it, and we generated over $1.3 billion with the fastest-growing game this year. We don't want to put a movie out or a game out unless we think it's our best work. Even if we do that, half the time or 2/3 of the time, it's not going to work. But that's the new cultural philosophy of the company. We're a storytelling company. The best creatives fight to make our content the best it could be."
Quite interesting since earlier this month, Warner Bros. revealed that the game earned over $1 billion just in retail sales, thereby not counting digital sales which account for roughly half of the total sales of the game. Also, these sales figures likely don't include sales figures of Hogwarts on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which versions launched in early May. As reported earlier, Hogwarts Legacy sales have already surpassed 15 million copies after launching on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S back in February of this year.
