Palworld is heading in a totally different direction, as Pocket Pair has revealed a new PvP mode called The Arena. Also, that date announced during the Triple-i Initiative? Apparently it was a mistake.
Palworld has had its ups and its downs, but the developers seem to want to throw a wrench in all we know about the game, as a new PvP mode is coming in 2024. The initial date was announced as Summer of 2024, which turned out to be a mistake on the devs part, and should have only been revealed to be coming at some point this year.

The premise of the new mode is to get your Pals to the highest of levels and as strong as possible, then enter the Arena to take down the opposition.
This does bring a little more of what we remember from the Pokemon franchise with Gym Battles, which Palworld has not only been compared to in the past but accused of copyright infringement as well. The game got intense flack for the similarities between their game and Pokemon, where at one point the developers claimed to have gotten death threats for releasing their game in the first place.
This did not stop Pocket Pair though, as Palworld climbed to the top of the popularity charts, broke records, and became one of the most played Steam games in history. Over time, of course, with the game being in early access and not having a massive amount of content to cover initially, it did lose a bit of traction.
