Deadpool & Wolverine has fans excited for the return of Hugh Jackman's legendary Wolverine, the star himself reveals that one of the upcoming film’s biggest draws almost debuted in another movie.
Deadpool & Wolverineis one of the most anticipated films of 2024, serving as a threequel in the Ryan Reynolds-led Deadpool franchise. Originally titled Deadpool 3, fan anticipation for the film was already fairly high and only soared higher when it was revealed that Hugh Jackman would be reprising his iconic role as the mutant X-Man Wolverine. While the star had walked away from the role a while prior, Jackman's excellent Wolverine performances in the X-Men movies had fans eager to see him back at it in the upcoming film. The threequel, which is set to be the only Marvel film that releases in 2024, would be the debut of both main characters and a lot of the supporting cast into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In addition to making Jackman’s Wolverine canon to the MCU, Deadpool & Wolverine is also set to give fans an even more long-awaited treat by putting the longtime fan favorite in his iconic yellow colors, a staple of his comic book looks that has never made it to live action before. However, Jackman revealed in a recent interview that it almost did make it onscreen in a previous project. “We almost did it in The Wolverine,” Jackman revealed to Empire. “But from the moment I put it on here, I was like, ‘How did we never do this?’ It looked so right, it felt so right. I was like, ‘That’s him.’ There are different sides of Wolverine we haven’t seen before in the movies. It was exciting for me.”
