Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are set to make their MCU debuts in on July 26. The film is among the most anticipated movies arriving in 2024. But when asked about their MCU futures, the actors seemed hesitant to reveal anything major.
The Deadpool and Wolverine stars are expected to play significant roles moving forward in the MCU. But talking about where their characters will go next, the actors refrained from revealing anything to prevent spoilers.
The latest issue of Empire Magazine reportedly features Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman seemingly confirming that Deadpool & Wolverine won’t be their last MCU outing. When questioned about their next projects, Reynolds said he was “nervous” to discuss it. Jackman added (via Deadpool Updates on X):
“I’ve never been so scared of what’s coming out of my mouth.”
While the two played coy in giving a definitive answer, they could certainly return in multiple Phase 6 projects beyond Deadpool & Wolverine.
Avengers: Secret Wars is the new “Endgame” that Marvel is building towards. With the MCU continuing to establish further aspects of the Multiverse with Deadpool & Wolverine, the film will likely set up a roadmap for its two leads to reach Avengers: Secret Wars.
But along the way, they could also return to other mutant-based projects since an X-Men reboot is reportedly in development. Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool are not confirmed to appear in it. However, their potential appearance could lead them directly into the events of Secret Wars, where multiple fan-favorite Marvel heroes are expected to unite.
Deadpool & Wolverine arrives on July 26, 2024, and it’s confirmed to feature a lot of mutant cameos. Besides the leads, the film also stars Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova and Matthew Macfadyen as Paradox in crucial roles.
