Developer Red Hook Studios has announced that modding tools for roguelike dungeon crawler Darkest Dungeon 2 will be coming to PC soon. In its announcement, the studio has revealed that modding support for the game is “nearing its first deployment”. The modding tools are slated for before the end of June.
The studio plans on releasing modding support for Darkest Dungeon 2 on PC in incremental stages. Each stage is set to build on top of the previous one, and players will start getting incrementally more options for modding the game as time goes on. The staggered release of the modding tools also allows the studio to take player feedback for future updates.
The first deployment of Darkest Dungeon 2‘s modding tools will focus on initial mod loading, overwriting logic, and integration with the Steam Workshop. Essentially forming a foundation for future modding tools for Darkest Dungeon 2, the initial release will allow mod creators to edit the game’s exposed CSV files where numerical gameplay data is stored.
Darkest Dungeon 2 is currently available on PC. The game is getting a console release down the line, with a PlayStation release set for July 15.
