One of the most impressive NVIDIA RTX Remix mods currently in development is certainly the Need for Speed Underground RTX remaster by alessandro893, which received another showcase video recently.
This NVIDIA RTX Remix mod features path-traced global/direct illumination, upscaled textures, and more than 1,000 lights added. Some textures were generated by Stable Diffusion. The modder said this is his first work, and he's working on it alone. It is an early Alpha version, though 80% of the lighting job is done. Some of the cars are matte, and only a few cars (Skyline, MX5) have headlights at this moment.
To install the NVIDIA RTX Remix NFS: Underground mod, follow this procedure. Download the latest version (v0.0.4a), then unzip and copy the content of the mod directory into the game's root folder, respecting this file hierarchy:
mod
└ .trex
└ d3d9.dll
└ dinput8.dll
└ dxvk.conf
└ NvRemixLauncher32.exe
└ rtx-remix
└ rtx.conf
└ scripts
└ SNDSTREAMS (optional, lossless audio)
└ Sound (optional, lossless audio)
The rendering resolution is set to 4K by default. To set a custom resolution, users may edit the "scripts/NFSUnderground.WidescreenFix.ini" file. As for the original video settings of Need for Speed: Underground, the modder recommends setting everything to High except shadows and reflections.
