Where's the ideal place to play MTG? A picnic bench outside? Too windy. A dimly lit basement? Too drafty. A death metal moshpit? Perfect.
As reported by WarGamer, a Twittter user called Dumpster Jesus shared a clip of some Magic fans sitting in a circle while metalheads moshed around them, playing Magic: The Gathering like nothing else was going on. This happened because the band hosting the concert itself, Frozen Soul, made them.
Someone held up a Magic deck in the pit and I made someone play him while everyone else circle pit around them. Let's fucking go! Wrecking ball Magic madness!
The MTG socials even responded to the clip and, rather than being bewildered like you might expect, they were supportive; "Now that's a gathering!"
Frozen Soul shared their anecdote on how the mosh pit game came to happen, but it didn't stop there. The band also tagged MTG socials and said, "Let's see how many retweets it will take to talk [Wizards of the Coast] into letting us design a custom Magic card with James Bousema".
Weirdly enough, this isn't the first time MTG has been played in the middle of a mosh pit. Parker replied with their own clip (Dumpster Jesus' real name is also Parker - weird coincidence) of a much more up-close-and-personal look at what it's like to get on the floor and dish out cards in the middle of a concert. Distracting is probably the best word for it. But it's one hell of a story.
Unfortunately, many in the quote retweets were quick to dunk on the players. Some even demanded they get kicked in the head or violently attacked for what was ultimately a harmless bit of fun at a concert, even encouraged by the band playing. But many more jumped to defend these players.
"Metalheads are fucking nerds," @SinFABTCG
