Final Fantasy 14 and Fall Guys are two of the least compatible titles you could pick for potential crossovers, but director Naoki Yoshida has somehow managed it. Head on over to The Gold Saucer between now and the end of the year, and you'll be able to take on various obstacle courses inspired by Fall Guys, all in an effort to win crowns and grab yourself some limited-time Fall Guys-themed rewards.
It's a fun little mode, and something to pass the time while we wait for Dawntrail, though it's unsurprisingly proving to be a little bit too janky for some to bear. Having not really been designed for fast-paced, precise platforming and weaving between fast-moving obstacles, Final Fantasy 14's positional latency is causing all kinds of problems, whether that be getting whacked by an obstacle nowhere near you, or losing to someone who's seemingly behind you.
I've been playing Fall Guys since it released. Won thousands of crowns... But good lord, as much as I love FF, it just doesn't work.
The event has only been going for a little over 24 hours, and already there are several examples of players getting screwed over on the Final Fantasy 14 subreddit. For instance, u/ipsusu recently shared a video of themselves clipping on the side of the arena, only for a person behind them to seemingly teleport ahead of them and take the crown for themselves.
Another heartbreaking example comes from u/Lokiberry, who is carrying a crystal to their team's area only to sent flying by a boxing glove that sinks into the ground next to them. Another player called u/anixall shares a video of themselves about to bask in Fall Guys glory until they're stunned by the last hammer of Fall Mountain despite it being completely stationary.
