Fortnite has begun age-restricting certain cosmetics, despite being rated 12+ by PEGI. That's because its Creative mode, which is essentially Epic Games' answer to Roblox, has a different age rating system to Save the World and Battle Royale. Map creators can individually rate their worlds, choosing to stick with Fortnite's or to go lower, so certain skins have been disabled for worlds that are rated under 12.
Upon discovering this, players took to the subreddit to vent their frustration, demanding refunds for their premium items. "Fortnite needs to give us a refund option for all age-restricted items! This is insanity!" KsavirTheOld said. "They restricted the use of some cosmetics in certain maps and experiences. This is just insane. I bought skins and other cosmetics expecting to be able to use the game-wide."
It's really cool how you can buy something three years ago and they can turn around and be like, 'Yeah, you know that skin you'd paid for? You can't use that anymore in these modes.'
If you try to enter an age-restricted mode with a banned skin, you will be changed into a default cosmetic.

Of course, it's not just character skins that have been impacted. "To everyone confused, selecting any experiences with an E rating in the lobby will restrict characters, back bling, pickaxes, music discs, loading screens, and gun wraps deemed not safe for kids," Loglestly said.
