Fortnite's newest update is huge, finally bringing Peter Griffin to the Battle Royale alongside Solid Snake, with quality-of-life improvements such as being able to move while chugging, and an entire LEGO mode. Like I said, huge. But alongside all the notable improvements are new animations that are proving incredibly unpopular so far.
The big criticism is that running is slower. Your character used to lean forward and put some effort into their sprint, but the new animations make things look slower. "The movement in this season is literally just walking in Loot Lake," Endocher tweeted, calling for whoever designed it to be fired.

Of course, the movement isn't that much slower. Animations and visual effects are often used to make you feel faster than you actually are, like blurring the sides of the screen in a racing game. In Fortnite's case, the character leaned forward and put a lot of effort into their 'sprint'. It's a lot more relaxed now, but side-by-side comparisons show that you are only a second slower at worst.
Many fans are calling on Epic Games to revert the animations or increase the running speed with online 'petitions' (asking fans to like their tweets in a show of support). These have garnered thousands upon thousands of likes, but there's an unfortunate sentiment between all of them - commenters and even, in some cases, posters calling for the developers behind the new animations to be fired.
