After leaks surfaced earlier this week of a potential Eminem live in-game show event in Fortnite, Epic pulled back the curtain to reveal the legendary rapper is joining the likes of Travis Scott and Ariana Grande as real-life performers who have graced the island. Like with previous events, this Eminem concert comes with some skins for players to buy based on the rapper, though there seems to be a bit more pushback this time around, as the Eminem event features a total of three separate skins.
A post on the Fortnite subreddit by Reddit user Gingerchrs has been gaining a fair amount of traction over the past few hours, one which calls developer Epic Games "extremely greedy" for seemingly increasing the total of Icon Series skins released with each event up to three. Confirmed by the Fortnite website, the Rap Boy, Slim Shady, and Marshall Never More skins appear to be separate purchases and hit the Item Store on November 29.
Gingerchrs states that in the past, Epic would usually include different designs as Edit Styles, rather than have players pay for multiple different skins, but that they're now worried Epic is trying to "separate even more skins" as a quick cash grab. It's a sentiment shared by other fans on both Reddit and Twitter, as many feel like Epic is trying to make as much money as possible off of items similar to those it used to give its players for free.
It's a step backwards for no reason except greed. They do it on purpose, I'm sure, because of Eminem's popularity.
