Appeal Studios and THQ Nordic have announced that Outcast: A New Beginning will launch on 15th March 2024, continuing Cutter Slade’s journey across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
The release date announcement also comes with the reveal of a Collector’s Edition for Outcast: A New Beginning, featuring a Saï statue as its centrepiece, steelbook case, the soundtrack on CD and hardcover art book. Of note, the latter two items still carry the original name for the game: Outcast 2: A New Beginning. This is down to these items having been created prior to the game’s name change, and THQ deciding that it would be ridiculously wasteful to pulp and recycle or trash them for a relatively subtle and meaningless change. If anything, it makes them more desirable as something that calls back to the original branding. Right?
Outcast: A New Beginning revives the world and setting of the 1999 cult classic original. Developer Appeal Studios is seeking to really reinvent what it means to be an open world game by crafting a setting that will meaningfully grow and offer you opportunities depending on your actions. You’ll be helping the native Talan lead a resistant fight against hostile robot invaders, fostering settlements to regrow, and then having the chance to, for example, hatch an egg found in the wild, nurture the offspring within, and then ride the giant flying creature it turns into into battle against the robots once more.
