Riot Games has published a new dev update focused on the 2024 League of Legends season. The update highlights a number of new changes designed to improve player experiences over the coming year.
The most notable change is one targeted at dealing with the rampant smurfing in the game. Riot isn’t going into too many specifics here to avoid players exploiting their efforts but the general idea is to calibrate the game’s matchmaking to better recognize differences in skill levels.
Some new content additions are coming in 2024 as well. Skarner is getting a visual and gameplay overhaul sometime in the first half of the year, an unspecified character from Arcane will be next in line for an update, and then lastly Shyvana will receive some special attention around her gameplay.
Smolder the Fiery Fledgling, a new ADC champion, arrives on the PBE next week on January 9 and Vastayan, a solo lane mid range mage champion will arrive sometime later on. Ambessa Medarda, first featured in Arcane Season 1, will also be added to the League of Legends roster alongside the release of Arcane Season 2 this November.
