It's no secret that Palworld takes a great deal of inspiration from Pokemon, and this includes the fact that the monsters in the game are assigned specific types that have advantages and weaknesses to others. With Palworld still being in early access, it's entirely possible that future updates will increase the number of types that are available in the game, but at the time of this writing, there are nine different Pal types.

Currently, the different Palworld Pal types players can catch are Ground, Electric, Water, Fire, Grass, Ice, Dragon, Dark, and Neutral. Because Ice is weak against Fire, but Water is strong against Fire, Fire-type attacks meet in the middle with Penking and do normal damage. Additionally, it was mentioned that Pals will do more damage performing attacks that match their types.
