has its fair share of criticisms, especially when it comes to the Pal workforce that fuels the economy in the game, but one teased potential feature would make it feel like an entirely different experience altogether. Though it's more than possible to butcher your Pals in via the Meat Cleaver, cooking in the game is done through a set of different menu screens, and other than the actual act of butchering, it seems fairly innocuous.
That said, Pocketpair has been teasing things about long before the Early Access launch of the game on January 19, 2024, with people having access to beta and alpha builds before that. One video depicting the well-known Chikipi, often found at the beginning of the game, however, includes a scene that isn't currently in the game — one that might make people who are already upset with the content included even angrier.
A Paldeck No. 031 Chikipi gameplay trailer from Pocketpair depicts what cooking might look like in the future of the game, with a Chickipi being cooked inside a cauldron. Though the poor chicken isn't being cooked alive as indicated by the swirls replacing its eyes, the sight of a stack of dead Chickipi layered on top of each other inside of deceased Chickipi drying racks adds a layer of horror on top of what is otherwise a pretty bright and friendly-looking title.
As it stands, currently, in, when Pals are killed in the game world, they will drop certain kinds of materials, with some dropping meat that can be cooked to feed other pals. However, this meat accumulates in the inventory like in other survival games, with the bodies of the Pals just ragdolling and rolling around in the world. In fact, killing Pals throughout the world and collecting resources such as Meat, Milk, and Eggs are a core part of gameplay, as they are used to keep one's Pal workforce happy and fed.
Whether this is a future upcoming feature or a considered feature that was eventually scrapped, it makes sense that the developers would leave it out of the
