Baldur's Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2 prepare to take another victory lap, as the pair lead nominations at the New York Game Awards 2024. Baldur's Gate 3 just edges ahead with six nominations, with Alan Wake 2 in second place, netting five nominations. Both are up for Game of the Year too, solidifying their place as two of the most celebrated games of 2023.
However, they're joined by an unexpected contender in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Thanks to the new expansion, CD Projekt Red's once-controversial RPG is tied for nominations with Alan Wake 2, also getting a Game of the Year nod. This is more nominations than another favourite among fans and critics, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, which ties with Starfield in three categories.
As reported by Gameindustry.biz, the nominations for the New York Games Awards are fairly reflective of what we've seen elsewhere in the industry, with a few surprises thrown in there. For instance, while we expect to see Baldur's Gate 3 and Alan Wake 2 on top, it certainly comes as a surprise to see Cyberpunk 2077 up there with them - and for Tears of the Kingdom to tie with Starfield.
Baldur's Gate 3 was the big winner at The Game Awards. It became the first game in the show's history to win both Game of the Year and the Players' Voice award.
