As it turns out, one dataminer has found a Pal hidden in the game’s files that might look rather familiar.

In an interview with , dataminer, Brian Cozzens, discovered a Pal in the game's code that bears similarities to Mewtwo. For now, the name of this place is listed in the files as Dark Mutant, but that's subject to change, considering this Pal hasn't even managed to make it into the game yet. The images of Dark Mutant and Mewtwo side-by-side make it tough to say that the former wasn't at least inspired by the latter. Dark Mutant’s description mentions that it can allegedly tear holes through dimensions, which certainly sounds like it'd fit as a psychic ability.

While similarities to often take the spotlight due to the designs of the Pals, the gameplay itself is much closer to ARK’s style. The inclusion of survival crafting and guns in set it apart from, but it also has elements reminiscent of with the boss locations and the pop-ups that appear when entering a new area. So, the Pals' resemblance to Pokémon gets the most attention, but itself blends in features from many other games, not just .
