Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is out today in early access, but technically, some players have already beaten it.
"We're aware that a number of players are currently experiencing an issue whereby upon logging into the game for the first time, they have full story completion," the game's official social account tweeted. "To resolve this issue, we will be performing maintenance on the game servers. During this time the game will be unavailable. We expect this to take several hours and will update once we have more information. We apologise for the inconvenience."
While you can play the game solo, you need to be online. As such, there's no way to play Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League right now with the maintenance. If you try, you'll be met with an error message. As for those who did get in, there's every chance you'll have stumbled into a spoiler having opened a save file with the story mode already beaten.
It's not the only problem plaguing Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League's launch. Right before the game went live, it added anti-tamper Denuvo DRM (as spotted by PCGamesN).
This means you can't play it offline or launch the game without a hub like Steam. The idea is to curve piracy, but it can also lead to performance issues and crashes. Whenever a game adds DRM, there's typically a wave of backlash, with some games going as far as to reverse the decision and remove DRM as with Payday 3.
Aside from DRM and a bug giving new players completed save files, Suicide Squad suffered a wave of negative previews and backlash over its live-service elements that even saw the game delayed by a year in an unprecedented move. There have been a lot of problems since it was revealed, to say the least.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is available (though not currently playable) in early access now for those who pre-ordered, otherwise, it launches on February 2 in just four days.
