Pokemon Fan Shares Impressive Drawing of Gyarados

A Pokemon fan recently demonstrated their fondness for the mighty Gyarados with an impressive sketch rendition. There are currently over a thousand creatures in the long-running Pokemon franchise, with many of the most popular ones being part of the original Pokemon Red and Blue line-up. Fans with artistic talent have often captured these 150 Pokemon in drawings and other creative works over the past few decades.

A prime example of a classic Pokemon players like to make art of is Gyarados, a dragon-like Water and Flying type that is listed as the 130th Pokemon overall. Evolving from the lowly Magikarp at level 20, Gyarados’s immense power stands in striking contrast to its weaker base form, and its seemingly unlikely transformation is said to be inspired by ancient Chinese mythology. This mystique makes Gyarados all the more exciting for Pokemon fans, who have commemorated the so-called “Atrocious Pokemon” with paintings, wood-burnt pieces, and even custom Paradox forms that imagine what Gyarados might have looked like in prehistoric times.

Reddit user Sketch_Junky recently offered their own tribute to Gyarados in the form of a colorful sketch drawing, which they shared on r/pokemon earlier this week. This impressively detailed rendering features Gyarados curled upright with its long tongue sticking out, and Sketch_Junky says that it took them roughly two and a half hours to finish. Their work seems to be paying off already, as their Gyarados post has achieved over 900 upvotes as of this writing.
