Hunter x Hunter: Nen X Impact has just been revealed. A new fighting game based on the Hunter x Hunter manga series, Nen X Impact was unveiled with a short teaser trailer, showing some of the characters preparing to duke it out.
We didn't get a look at any gameplay, and there's no hint as to when it will launch. However, fans fear that the trailer is suggesting it will be an arena fighter, as opposed to a more traditional entry in the fighting game genre. Right now, it's being described as a "full-scale" or "full-fledged" fighting game, at least when translating the game's description into English (via Google Translate), which doesn't necessarily confirm that it will be an arena fighter.
Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact is being developed by Eighting, a Japanese studio that has a history of working on licenced anime and manga games. It's also supported the development of much larger projects, most recently working alongside Nintendo on Pikmin 4, and before that, working on new content for Pikmin 3 Deluxe.
Aside from that, it's hard to glean much information from this vague reveal trailer. It has fans cautiously optimistic, as they're pleased to see a Hunter x Hunter game in development, but remain fearful of how the gameplay will pan out. Whatever specific genre it ends up being, it looks like we'll be picking three characters at a time, perhaps swapping out mid-fight, keeping the rounds quite long if we have to take down all of our opponent's fighters.
There's no indication of what platforms Hunter x Hunter: Nen x Impact will release on, but the usual PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S deal is a safe bet. That said, given the work that the developer has done with Nintendo in the past, we might also see it get a Switch port,
