A new set photo from Loki season 2 reveals a secret Marvel villain Easter egg. Premiering on Disney+ in June 2021, Loki took the entire MCU fanbase by storm, breaking viewership records and garnering acclaim from critics and fans alike. In the show, Tom Hiddleston reprises his role as the titular God of Mischief, although it is an alternative version of the character that is summoned by the bureaucratic Time Variance Authority (TVA) to stop another Loki variant from killing TVA agents. Loki season 2 was confirmed during the mid-credits scene in the first season finale, although it will be some time before the show returns to streaming.
The Loki season 1 finale was arguably a game-changer for Marvel as it dealt with the multiverse and introduced a variant of future villain Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors). The former concept was further explored in MCU films like Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness; presumably, Loki season 2 will continue to dig into this thorny concept. The exact plot details for Loki season 2, though, continue to remain obscure. Production on the show has been underway since June, with Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead taking over the directorial duties from season 1 director Kate Herron. Most of the Loki season 1 cast is expected to return.
