Chris Hemsworth and Taika Waititi have addressed whether Loki will be appearing in Thor: Love and Thunder. The fourth instalment in the Thor series stars Hemsworth in his titular God of Thunder role, and Waititi has returned to direct the film after his immense success with the previous Thor film, Thor: Ragnarok. Love and Thunder is set to premiere in theatres next week on July 8, 2022.
For as long as Hemsworth has played Thor, Tom Hiddleston has portrayed Thor's brother Loki alongside him. However, it has always been difficult to tell when the trickster god will appear in MCU films, as Loki has a habit of faking his death. Audiences first thought Loki had died when he fell from the Bifrost at the end of the first Thor, only to reappear as the main antagonist in the 2012 Avengers. Loki also faked his death in Thor: The Dark World, before taking over Odin's place on the throne until Ragnarok. Alongside Hemsworth, Hiddleston's Loki has appeared in every single Thor movie — that is, seemingly, until Love and Thunder. The God of Mischief has been notably absent from Love and Thunder trailers, leading many to wonder whether he would appear, given his variant was the subject of the Disney+ series Loki, even after the character's death in Avengers: Infinity War.
