The Phase 4 film follows Benedict Cumberbatch's titular sorcerer as he protects the multiverse-hopping America Chavez from Scarlet Witch, who wishes to harness her powers to reunite with Billy and Tommy, the sons she created in Westview.
Following Doctor Strange 2, Thor: Love and Thunder is the latest chapter in the MCU's Phase 4 slate. Written and directed by Takia Waititi, the film finds Chris Hemsworth's intent on putting his superhero days behind and attempting to find inner peace, though he is forced to return to action due to the emergence of Gorr the God Butcher, portrayed by the incomparable Christian Bale. As usual, Marvel's secretive marketing campaign did not reveal Gorr's exact motives prior to release, but now that fans have seen the movie, they are beginning to realize a stark similarity between two MCU Phase Four villains.
