When developer The Coalition announced that the next major entry in the popular third-person shooter series would take players back to the start of the war against the Locust, many questioned whether the game would be a return to form. may have had its fans but its implementation of open-world segments left many pining for the days of linear corridor shooting.
Whether or not that's the case remains to be seen but one returning element, as confirmed by The Coalition on X (formerly Twitter), is that actors John DiMaggio and Carlos Ferro are reprising their roles as Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago, respectively.
Since 's announcement, speculation has run rampant regarding voice actors as many suspected the characters would be recast to make them sound younger. Fortunately, that's not the case as the community celebrates DiMaggio and Ferro once again stepping back into their roles.
While there's still very little known about , The Coalition has described the prequel as being an origin story about the brotherhood between Marcus and Dom. While that aspect of the story was present in through, it was never the core of the narrative so players are excited to see how the pair becomes so close. Given the emphasis on their bond, bringing back the actors who are already so familiar with the characters was definitely the right call.
That's not to say Marcus and Dom will sound too familiar as aims to provide a different take on the warriors. Since the game is set just after the arrival of The Locust, both Cogs are young and inexperienced, an aspect that will likely be portrayed by how they speak to one another. It's undoubtedly an interesting idea, especially since often inserts moments of vulnerability into its generally explosive campaigns.
