2024 is almost over, but we’re still getting major releases, and it seems they’re all doing spectacular well. Yesterday, Marvel Rivals attracted players in droves on the first day of its release, and today, we’re seeing a similar pattern for the long-awaited Path of Exile 2, Grinding Gear Games’ action RPG, which launched in early access today.
As per SteamDB, at the time of writing, Path of Exile 2 has seen a peak of 459,263 players on Steam on day one of its release. That’s instantly more than twice as high as the all-time peak of the original Path of Exile, which stands at 229,337 concurrent players.
As Grinding Gear Games warned ahead of the game’s release, Path of Exile 2 is also currently facing severe server overcrowding, with large masses of players having to wait in long queues to be able to get in the game. The studio will obviously be working to ease those issues, though it should be interesting to see how the game’s player engagement numbers fare over the coming days. With the weekend coming up, it wouldn’t be surprising to see it continue to climb higher.
Path of Exile 2 is currently available in early access for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Read our review of its early access release through here.
