A revamp to the Codex of Power Legendary Aspect system is coming to Diablo 4 in Season 4! Blizzard emphasized an extensive update and overhaul to many of the systems that make up Diablo 4, and the update to the Codex of Power and Legendary Aspects does not disappoint. Moving forward, on both the Eternal and Seasonal realms, all Legendary Aspects will be found in the Codex of Power — and can be upgraded past their base values.
Season 4 Campfire Chat Summary — Diablo 4
Instead of needing to extract the powers to keep in their stash for future use, players can now salvage Legendaries to unlock and upgrade the Aspects within the Codex of Power.
The preview of the new Codex showed various max ranks for most Legendary powers, and you upgrade the ranks by salvaging Legendary items with that power, which you find randomly via higher rolls as drops. This means that you can also get lucky and salvage a max rolled Legendary early on (beginning in World Tier 3 or higher), which will give you the maximum potential for all imprints moving forward — no more one-time use!
This change makes min-maxing your character significantly less frustrating.
Now, you'll be able to easily imprint a max-rolled Legendary power on a good base versus needing to farm another Legendary to extract the power from.
